"Skaters" - 1946

Exhibited at The London Salon

SDJ's notes:

"Diagonal form of composition is suggestive of 'vitality' and motion. The foreground shadows lead up to the skaters and since all the highlights, dark and light tones are grouped there, one's eyes are arrested and held there. There are several repeating 'S' shapes in the picture.

An exposure of 1/200 second at f2 was made on Super-XX film. In a 20x16 enlargement, a very slight movement is discernable about the swinging legs of the skaters which adds to the sense of action"
